Bromances and Romances That The 80’s Brought us
Today we are presenting you the list of our top-5 favorite ’80 movies featuring iconic friendship relationships, a.k.a. bromances.

Bill and ted Comedy Film Series
Rotten tomatoes rating: 79%
The story follows two teenage slackers living in California in 1988, who want to establish their own rock band “WyldStallyns”. Although succeeding in their endeavor, theindifference for high school leaves the dumb duo close to failing their history class and getting expelled. Like any other sane menunder such circumstances, friends decide to travel through time to make sure they pass and change the future. Surprisingly for them, their adventure and passion for rock will begin a utopian society in the future.
The comedy is a brilliant illustration of the late ‘80s pop cultureand is just outrageously funny. Watching Sigmund Freud hoovering cushions and Napoleon eating ice cream on a water slide, we wonder what kind of historic film might possibly ever come close to this intelligently plotted masterpiece. Additionally, the series stars Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, and George Carlin supported by a cruelly amazing soundtrack. Enjoy a nonstop giggle of the purpose-build junk comedy.
“Party on dudes!”

The Blues Brothers
Rotten tomatoes rating: 84%
After the release of Jake Blues from prison, together with his brother Elwood guys decide to visit the last of the nuns who raised them in an orphanage. Siblings discover that the church has stopped its funding and the only way to keep the place running is to pay $5000 tax on the property within 11 days. This “Mission from God” pushes brothers to put their blues band back together and stage a big gig. However, the duo makes enemies all along their way: trouble with the police, the Illinois Nazi party, a girlfriend of one of their band members, and an absolutely innocent girl who seems to crave guys’ death every minute.
The great thing about this film is its not-too-silly humor that will keep you laughing from start to finish. It is a must-watch for anyone who loves blues, unstoppable car crashes and explosionsand outstanding cameos from Steven Spielberg, Twiggy andFrank Oz. Needless to mention are the well-chosen songs and well-set pacing of the comedy. Enjoy this extremely entertaining comedy and, by the way, wearing sunglasses throughout the movie is a must.

The Goonies
Rotten tomatoes rating: 71%
The film begins with a group of west coast kids including a chubby kid, a smart kid and his older brother, a nerd and an Asian dude who just keeps on surprising. The friends come together for a treasure hunt adventure hoping to save their families from poverty. The Goonies is a very nostalgic and fun adventure film, tuned by innocence, action and good friendship vides, that we highly recommend watching with your family or mates.
Police chases, pirate ships and mafia, discovery and treasure chests full of gold, freaks and skeletons… In short, all the necessary to experience the fun-filled excitement and charm.

Midnight Run
Rotten tomatoes rating: 96%
Jack Walsh (Robert De Niro), a bounty hunter, has a mission to find Jonathan Mardukas (Charles Grodin), a mafia accountant who snatched $15 million from the Mob. But the FBI have their own eye on John, so the hunter must hurry! Throughout their trip, Jack and Jonathan travel over 3000 miles by literally every transportation possible: passenger and cargo trains, a couple of stolen cars, a borrowed station wagon, commercial jets… They somehow even manage to swim in the interim!
It is an intense buddy-comedy that features a unique chemistry between the characters: organic and dramatic, yet funny and compelling when it needs to. It is the film throughout which it seems you will explode at any second, but it is such a delicious comedy!

9 to 5
Rotten tomatoes rating: 82%
Three female secretaries become friends and decide to get revenge on their tyrannical, sexist-egoistical, lying and hypocritical, chauvinist bigot boss by abducting him and running the business themselves.
Unsurprisingly, it is a very funny movie, particularly because of the gifted performances of Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Dabney Coleman. Parton’s Oscar song 9 to 5 sets a positive mood starting with the film opening. What could be better than rat poison, crazy dream sequences and BDSM equipment to create a kind and pleasant comedy? However, there is a deeper meaning. The movie teaches us to work together rather than judge each other and collaboratively fight the bad guys who keep you down.
Best Places to Celebrate National Pizza Day
What is National Pizza Day?
A day of not feeling guilty of eating pizza for all meals, a.k.a. National Pizza Day is celebrated every year on the 9th of February. Grab your friends and enjoy subtle hints of an ever-iconic dish that is so universal, yet unique for every nation!
7 best places to celebrate National Pizza Day
Today we introduce our top 7 favourite nation-specific places with their distinctive variations of pizza you should check out this National Pizza Day.
7. Pizzeria Gorizia 1916, Naples, Italy

Well it’s all hands on deck, classic never gets old! Naples is a historic pizza birthplace of character, to this day serving as home for original modern pizza legends. Among numerous restaurants we shamelessly recommend to visit L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, founded by Salvatore Condurro in 1870s and still run by the family. Pizza Marinara would be an obvious choice for fans of tradition and simplicity: perfectly smooth and crunchy pizza with tomatos, oregano and garlic guarantees gastronomic and aesthetic pleasure and satisfies even the most demanding gourmets. Enjoy a sticky wood-oven Neapolitan pizza and immerse in the world of history, taste and romance.

6. Paulie Gee’s Slice Shop, New York City, USA

Paulie Gee’s was in our top 10 from our research trip to NYC last year Although pizza remains the original Italian Institution, the beginning of the 20th century has left its tomato mark on American culinary as well. Little Italy neighbourhood inspired Americans to create their own exclusive version of pizza that today goes by the name of New York style pizza. Gooey, cheesy, portable… It will make you rethink the concept of dinning etiquette and make you go crazy by wrapping pizza slices like a sandwich (inhumane!!) you will find in Paulie Gee’s Slice shop. American tunes of the 70s, Big ass TV screens playing Cheers and The Wonder Years, complemented with cheesy and smoky tastes is what makes this place unique.

5. Lángos Land, Budapest, Hungary

Langos are, perhaps, the most innocuous pizza relatives, but are the real deal of Hungarian street food. Deep-fried, yet smooth dough that will be of service to the most picky eaters: you will face almost limitless selection of toppings, from classic tomatos to sweet jams. Our recommendation is the popular option which is garlic sauce, cheese, ham and sour cream. Sounds weird, right? But trust us, the lightness and creativity of this pizza will keep surprising you. To really get lost in the Hungarian street food culture, try out the favourite choice among locals – Langos Land. It is a cheap and cheerful market stall, complete with a charmingly unsophisticated vibe and what many people consider the best lángos in Budapest.Visitors are welcome to try out everything from a traditional lángos flatbread with a selection of toppings, to boosting up the adrenaline by sampling lángos doubled up in half and filled up with traditional Hungarian sausage.
Address: Lovohaz utca 12, Fény utcai piac, Budapest 1024, Hungary
4. Mizuno, Kansai Region, Japan

Have you ever seen Japanese commercials with supermen, tentacles or other unimaginable substance? This is how we felt after hearing about okonomiyaki: a savoury combination of flour, nagaimo (potato-like tuber), cabbage, and eggs grilled like a pancake topped with your choice of condiments, usually including sauces, tempura scraps and fish/meat. It is difficult to describe the taste of this pizza, at the end of the day it is customised to your own preferences and open-mindedness. Long story short, it is the kind of experience that turns out to be oddly satisfying when you least expect it to happen. Mizuno has gained Michelin’s approval and customer’s love to the restaurant’s expertly curated ingredients. The fish you will try there comes from local fishmongers, meat from butchers, picked vegetables from specialised farmers and all from the nearby Kuromon Ichiba Market. The freshness and quality of ingredients will guarantee you the most pleasurable acquaintance with okonomiyaki. Instead of asking “why?” you will question “how?”.

3. Hoca Pasa Pidecisi, Istanbul, Turkey

Discover vibrant flavours of Turkish boat-shaped pizza called Pide. Unlike original Italian sibling, Pide stands out with the savoury cheesy tones and nutritious value, but thickness-wise it is not too overwhelming no matter what combination of ingredients you select. There is not much to add about this divine flatbread with customised toppings, sizes and even shapes. You will fall in love with this pizza dish masterpiece. And no worries, cutlery is allowed and sometimes is the only way to finish every delicious piece of Pide! Order up your Pide in one of the top-ranked Pide places in Turkey, Hoca Pasa Pidecisi, enjoy the taste and the view on the dynamic, warm and hospitable Istanbul.

2. Pequod’s Pizza, Chicago, USA

While New Yorkers refer to Chicago Style as ‘Lasagna on Toast’ This chubby boy will feed the most ravenous beast. Chicago-style deep dish pizza is heaven for the cheese lovers, but instead of fighting your cheese greed, it will only heat up your intense pizza passion. Flip your understanding of pies and pizzas with this iconic cheese-stuffed and thin-crust American pizza. The unspoken choice within the local community is Pequod’s Pizza, where sauces are so rich, and toppings are so generous that it counts as a cheat month! The bonus is the caramelized “halo”, created by sprinkled cheese edge to edge and baking it until it’s crisp and brown.

Foods the 80s brought us
It’s a new year (already) and here at Lost Boys Pizza we bet that many of you, like us, will have made a New Years resolution or two… and by resolution we mean to only switching to the occasional decaff coffee from SUDA Bakery (our go to next door to Lost Boys Pizza – they are seriously good, check them out!) this year and only eating the white snow.
But like every year, the most common resolution is to lose weight (Of course it is) above all the others. As owners, staff and even some of the furniture in 245 Eversholt st, the New Year’s resolutions made when December turned into January in the 1980s were much different to what they are now in 2020. And losing weight was nearly impossible because of all the awesome food the 80s brought us!!
So as we at Lost Boys Pizza venture to join the 21st century and lose just a little holiday weight, there’s no better time to think back on our top 3 favorites and unhealthy foods we indulged upon during the 80s!
1.Fiendish Feet Yogurts
Back in the 1980s, yogurts weren’t actually that exciting at all. But these tasty treats brought to us but the people at Silvel, was a game changer! A yogurt that can stand on its own two feet quite literally, was a must have treat!! So was a sad day when production stopped on these bad boys.
The original flavours from Spooky Wooky (classic banana flour) to Fangs a lot (Strawberry), were just down right amazing.
As time has gone on, here at Lost Boys Pizza, maybe the sugar wasn’t the only things that went to our heads because the names of each flavour sound familiar to us. With ‘Fangs a lot’ to ‘Frank n Stein’… maybe when we named our pizzas, was some unintentional inspiration from the good people at Silvel.. Gone but not forgotten!!

2. Heinz Baked Beans Pizza
Remember this was a thing? If you don’t remember this or you’re too young to know that this even existed, Heinz created a pizza that was just delightfully weird. Baked beans trounced on top of cheese in the oven for 10/12 minutes.. This classic should make a comeback to the frozen food section! Perfect for those who can’t get a Lost Boys Pizza delivered when the hangover starts to kick in at 4 am!!

3. Space Raiders
To pay the paltry amount of 10 pence for the tasty pickled onion flavoured corn snack.. Bargain!!
This was a favourite because of the price AND also the feature on the front of the pack of the space goddess Astra and her rebel pirates, along with a tiny comic strip detailing Astra’s space adventures, simply amazing.

Maybe we need to stock some comic strips of Astra at Lost Boys Pizza!
So keep the faith, saddened snackers. There might just be hope for your discontinued dream food again!
Film & Food Friday’s – The Breakfast Club
The only way we at Lost Boys could get any more 80s, is if we told you one of us had a part time job during our teens at a Blockbuster Video store up north. Or are we confusing our lives with the all inspired teenage years of James Van Der Beek’s character in Dawson’s Creek or Jamie Kennedy’s character in Scream…
In the 80s, early 90s, 2000s and now still in 2019, the music the 80s brought us is still on a killer playlist, lost somewhere in 245 Eversholt St. But the movies the 80s brought us, hold even MORE of a place in our hearts (I mean Hudson Hawk is a guilty pleasure every here and there). So with that in mind it’s always fun to explore some of our beloved films and see if somewhere in there started this whole food crazed, real life thing we now find ourselves with?
Que The Breakfast Club. It’s one that has had a lasting impact. But the only scene that comes to mind regularly is the lunch scene. Everyone opening their lunch and each lunch representing each character. It’s an amazing scene and as food lovers, one that we love the most down to its meaning.
What’s more the, let’s call it dishes they all went for, are questionable at best. We are never above serving the Andrew “The Jock” special some Friday!!

Okay, Allison’s (Ally Sheedy) lunch:
Buttered Wonder Bread sprinkled (liberally) with powder from Pixy Stix and finished off with Cap’n Crunch.
Really? Was THIS A THING?!!
Is there anything more revolting that you actually want to try because both sounds and looks just amazing!!
Considered the basket case character – the food inspo here proves she may be just that.
But basket cases often have the best food inspo!!

Next we have Brian’s (Anthony Michael Hall) lunch:
Soup, juice, PB & J sambo
As Judd Nelson’s character “Bender” points out – all of the food groups are represented in this movie. And it’s safe to say who the modern day patron saint of this lunch would be… Jamie Oliver?
It’s exactly this type of wholesome lunch that he is trying to get school children to embrace. Gone would be the product placed Coca-Cola’s in this movie (which wouldn’t be the worst thing).
In a way we all knew Brian’s character was before his time.
In fairness, Brian was rocking the healthy lunch, that by today’s standards, he would be the Avocado kid in school.

Last but not least, Andrew “The Jock” (Emilio Estevez) lunch:
From a brown bag, his lunch has a mixture of convenience foods (chips and cookies) and homemade foods (sandwiches).
As “The Jock” in the movie, wouldn’t he be downing a green shake? Or is that the nerd in me not understanding how the life of an athlete works?
Either way, the Andrew “The Jock” special is something we might have to muster together at Lost Boys.. Brown Bags sold separately.

After all that, I keep coming back to Allison’s lunch and feel inspired to try and make some vegan option to this dish with some version of Cereal Milk (™).
But what a scene and a selection of lunches.
So, Film & Food Friday?? An 80s classic like The Breakfast Club that makes us get this deep and maybe Andrew “The Jock” special?
Branded in the 80s, remembering the era that shaped lost boys pizza
It was 1980 something and it was brilliant.
The 80s to us at Lost Boys Pizza needs no introduction. It was the era that brought us the Walkman (a true revolution in technology), Coke versus Pepsi (you decide) and need we forget it was the era that brought us Tom Selleck!

In many ways, the name Lost Boys is a suiting name to those who work, live and breathe in 245 Eversholt St, Camden, as we feel somewhat lost since the 80s. Theatres showcasing blockbusters like Beverly Hill Cops, The Breakfast Club, Return of the Jedi and Raiders of the Lost Ark… don’t make them like that anymore! Even Pretty in Pink wasn’t half a bad shout on a rainy day if you were in the mood for it!

And the real popcorn fillers were reserved for the horror and gothic movies that the 80s brought us… Not that Pretty in Pink was bad or anything… it’s just not the Evil Dead!!
Whether it was Nightmare on Elm Street, Evil Dead II or the classic Gremlins… we were spoilt with great movies.
Not to mention the movie that made Jason Patric’s career, Lost Boy’s. Despite the horrible remake that seen the light of day in 2018, the original Lost Boys movie was the inspiration to the dark pizza waving store that is our restaurant.
There’s no denying there isn’t a better movie to build an 80s inspired restaurant off of than Lost Boys. I mean The Goonies was good and all but we will be damned if we have to do the truffle shuffle during dinner service!

From its original soundtrack hits like ‘Good Times’ by INXS & Jimmy Barnes to ‘Lost in the shadows’ by Lou Gramm… these songs like many others to have been first heard on a compact disc cd ring out daily bringing people back in time like our store was turned into a time machine by Dr Emmett Brown!!

Look, we here at Lost Boys Pizza might never leave the 80s, I mean who would want to forget the era where your whole life could be kept on a trapper keeper, we had Reebok freestylers and well, Bill Murray.. Nuff said!
But all we know is, it was 1980 something and it was GREAT!!
